The DEIBDEIB Acronyme for Diversity, Equity, Inlusion and Belonging team in WordPress is a collective of dedicated individuals working towards promoting Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging within the WordPress community.
Born out of a deep recognition for the need to foster a more diverse and inclusive environment, the DEIB team was proposed by Birgit Olzem to unify and amplify the various DEIB initiatives within WordPress.
Our team builds on the pioneering work of the Diverse Speaker Training Group, led by Jill Binder, with an expanded vision to encompass all aspects of the WordPress community, from contributors to end-users, and from local meetups to global WordCamps
We envision a WordPress community that truly reflects and celebrates the diversity of its millions of users around the world.
A community where everyone, regardless of their background, identity, or level of experience, feels welcomed, heard, and respected. A community that actively works towards equity and fosters a strong sense of belonging.
Our mission is to make the WordPress community more diverse, equitable, and inclusive. We aim to:
- Empower underrepresented groups in the WordPress community.
- Foster a sense of belonging for all community members.
- Develop resources and programs to enhance diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Advocate for DEIB considerations in all aspects of the WordPress project.
